Upgrades & backup

Upgrades

Apply updates from Settings → Updates. The appliance checks for the outstanding update chain (and any hotfixes) for its version and channel, and applies them component-by-component to minimize disruption.

Key points: - Updates are delivered as signed bundles; the appliance verifies the signature before applying. - The OS disk is swapped wholesale on a version upgrade, while your log-storage disk and configuration persist — so your data and settings survive upgrades. - An active paid subscription is required to receive non-security updates; security fixes are delivered regardless of plan.

See upgrade.

Backup & restore

Keel includes encrypted backup/restore of configuration under Settings → Backup: - Back up appliance configuration (sources, pipelines, channels, users, settings) to an encrypted archive. - Restore it onto a fresh appliance to rebuild your setup.

Backups cover configuration. Your log data lives on the persistent log-storage disk (and the cold tier, if enabled). For data durability, snapshot the storage disk at the hypervisor level and/or use a cold tier in resilient object storage.

See backup-restore.
